Here's a little questionnaire from my lovely fellow blogger Nappy Valley Girl, all about writing.
Which words do you use too much in your writing?
So, though and annoying. Oh, and I use far too many, er, Hmmm, Mmm, etc etc.
Which words do you consider overused in stuff you read?
The words recession and Jordan seem to be cropping up a lot in the things I read, which hints at my kind of reading habits.
What's your favourite piece of writing by you?
Hmmm, I am quite critical of things I write and am always astounded that anyone reads them. Although this is not my funniest, it means a lot to me as it's about the first day my daughter started big school.
What blog post do you wish you'd written?
There are so many I LOVE, including Nappy Valley who passed this Meme on. Not Enough Mud and her tales of single life and dating is a blog that pulls me in every time. Many blogs have reduced me to tears. But the one I have chosen is Millennium Housewife. Her lists are funny and original. The post I have picked is about hormones and having another baby. Hilarious and touching at the same time. She also gets 40 odd comments for her blogs, so I bow down to her.
What is the strangest thing you have ever been asked to write about?
The joys of quickie sex by Arena when I had a six week old baby. It never made it to press...my first ever kill fee. Sob.
Name three favourite words...
Enlighten, Mummy, fabulous.
And three words you're not so keen on?
Pubic, discharge, moist (writing sex features has obviously haunted me!)
Do you have a writing mentor, role model or inspiration?
Helen Fielding, you have to admit Bridget Jones summed up the feeling of millions of women at exactly that time. Louisa M Alcott because Little Women was the first book I read over and over again. I wanted to be Jo. Lynn Barber writes fantastic interviews in The Observer, Shane Watson always seems to say what I'm thinking in her columns, Andrew Clover makes me laugh out loud in bed every Sunday when I read his parenting column in the Sunday Times Style magazine, he also has a great book out called Dad Rules. Judy Blume writes fantastically for teenagers. Are You There God? It's Me Margaret, was my saviour when my parents were going through a divorce and I'd started my periods. Truman Capote, his writing style is known as 'new journalism' a cross between modern journalism and literature. He wrote the wonderful Breakfast At Tiffany's and In Cold Blood. There are so many more I could list, but I fear I am boring you now...
What is your writing ambition?
Doesn't everyone want to write a novel? To be able to tell a long story, structure it correctly, use perfect grammar, be entertaining, funny and get a whopping life changing advance. We can all dream.
I am going to pass this on to Millennium Housewife, as she is pretty rubbish at these things, but you never know. My friend Mom or Mum Wars if she has time to do it when she's in Spain, and finally Not Enough Mud, if she has enough time as she is jetting off to the US in a quest to marry eternal bachelor George Clooney. Good luck girl!

I love the idea of writing about quickie sex when you have just given birth....they should have published it just to warn their readers about what happens when you have kids!
I loved Judy Blume too. Everyone at school liked Forever because it talked about sex and penises, but I always liked the ones that were more about adolescent angst.
Love your meme i still haven't got round to this one yet, but little women is one of my faves too and i too wanted to be just like Jo - i loved Laurie aswell! Here's hoping for that big ass advance...you never know :)
Great meme. Thanks for passing it on. If I can drag myself away from my sunloungerover the next few weeks, i'll force myself to do it! Teehee. xx
I think that Jody Blume book did the rounds at my school as well - I mean, a book that discussed periods and sex - thrillingly shocking!
Promise to get on with the meme too!
Hello, I have been meaning to tell you for ages that I think your blog title is BRILLIANT, it sums up my youth and makes me think about being back at university (nostalgia!!!). I am a bit older than you (35) but share similar interests. I got Never Forget from Sainsbury's for £5. How brilliant is THAT? Which is your fave track? Mine is Could It Be Magic. Though my brother tells me that it's a gay anthem. I will be back (for good).
Also - YES - Judy Blume - used to get Forever out of the the local tiny library in my early teens, heart beating like a drum with the thrilling shame of it all...
MH is brilliant, I agree.
I heard a local journalist was asked to write about Tantric Sex, she happily told her neighbours she'd got all he info from the internet and that she hadn't had sex for years!
A bit of a conversation stopper
You are a lovely, gorgeous blogger friend, thanks for the huge plug! (cheque's in the post).
You're right I am RUBBISH at these, but only because it's hard to think of answers in a Millennium Housewife Stylee. I promise to have a shot and if I don't manage it you can cash the cheque.
6 weeks after giving birth? You've got to be joking. And yes, it does seem to have traumatised a little bit.
NVG, I know, I much preferred Tiger Eyes to Forever. But I have to say, it did open my eyes to the fact that men like giving their members names. Wasn't the main charachters called Ralph?
Wife of the Bold - I think Laurie was my first love!!
Mom/Mum - Enjoy your sunlounger while you can lady. Tan looks like it's coming along nicely ;o)
Mud - Yes, Judy Blume and more! magazines position of the fortnight was my sex education!
Hi Cassandra - I hit 35 this year - large gulp - how is it?? Back For Good, or Never Forget are my favourites I think.
Frog - Yes, I have also used the internet to research many sex tips in features I had to write, when all I was up to was wiping up baby sick...of course MH is a star!
MH - Cheques still not arrived. Hurry up, I have seen a new Orla Kiely doormat I like...You mean MH is not your true persona??? I may cry silently for many years...
MM - Am happy to report that I could just about manage to write a sex feature now, but thing is, I don't get asked anymore...:o(
